How do I care for my personalised piece?

Jewellery Care

Your jewellery is made to be loved. A little extra care will help keep it looking beautiful for longer. ✨

Everyday Care

To help preserve the colour, shine and finish of your jewellery, we recommend:

  • Removing your jewellery before showering, swimming or exercising.

  • Avoiding contact with perfume, hairspray, lotions, cosmetics and household cleaning products.

  • Keeping your jewellery away from chlorine, salt water and other chemicals.

  • Putting your jewellery on after applying perfume, skincare and cosmetics.

  • Removing jewellery before sleeping where possible.

  • Storing each piece separately in a dry place when you're not wearing it.

Golden rule: your jewellery should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you take off.

Caring for Gold-Plated Jewellery

Gold-plated jewellery has a fine layer of gold applied over a base metal.

Like all plated jewellery, the finish can gradually fade over time due to normal wear and exposure to water, sweat, cosmetics and chemicals.

To keep your gold-plated pieces looking their best:

  • Keep them as dry as possible.

  • Avoid wearing them in the shower, bath, pool or ocean.

  • Remove them before exercising.

  • Avoid direct contact with perfume, creams and cleaning products.

  • Store them separately when you're not wearing them.

The speed at which plating naturally wears varies depending on how often the jewellery is worn, how it is cared for and individual skin chemistry.

How to Clean Your Jewellery

Keep it simple.

After wearing your jewellery, gently wipe it with a clean, soft and dry microfibre or lint-free cloth to remove oils, fingerprints and residue.

For gold-plated pieces, avoid excessive rubbing or polishing, as this can gradually wear away the plating.

If your jewellery needs a little more cleaning, use a soft cloth very lightly dampened with lukewarm water, then carefully dry the piece immediately.

Never leave plated jewellery soaking in water.

What to Avoid

Please don't clean your jewellery with:

  • Toothpaste

  • Baking soda

  • Vinegar or lemon juice

  • Alcohol

  • Ammonia

  • Bleach or chlorine

  • Household cleaning products

  • Silver or metal polish

  • Abrasive cleaners

  • Hard-bristled toothbrushes

  • Scouring pads or abrasive cloths

These products and cleaning methods may scratch the surface or damage the plating and finish of your jewellery.

Storing Your Jewellery

When you're not wearing your jewellery:

  • Make sure it is clean and completely dry.

  • Store pieces separately to help prevent scratching and tangling.

  • Keep jewellery away from excessive humidity, direct sunlight and heat.

  • Ideally, keep your jewellery in its original My Little Necklace pouch, box or another soft jewellery pouch.

For necklaces and bracelets, fastening the clasp before storing can also help prevent tangling.

A Little Care Goes a Long Way 💛

Personalised jewellery often carries a special meaning. Treat your piece gently, keep it away from water and chemicals, and give it a quick wipe after wearing it.

With the right care, your My Little Necklace jewellery can stay beautiful for much longer.
